Another monday, another part of my monday traveling series!
Today I want to share something that really means a lot for me, a video from Shanghai. Shanghai has been my home for a year. An amazing year, full of new experiences, new friends and unforgettable memories. A year that has taught me a lot and showed me a new direction in life. I will never forget my first week in this crazy city, so far away from home and so different from anything I even seen before. I hated it and I wanted to go back. Crossing a road was a challenge (red light and green light are in most cases pretty much the same to Chinese drivers) communication was close to impossible, I didn’t know what to eat and being different from everyone around you was a bit overwhelming.
After a while I started making friends. I liked my school and I enjoyed studying with people from all around the world. Living in a dorm and having your friends constantly around you turned out to be a really cool thing. We studied together, we worked out together. I rarely had a meal alone. On weekends we would explore new parts of the city or enjoy Shanghai’s incredible nightlife (and trust me bars and clubs in Shanghai are aaaamazing).
I fell in love with Shanghai. It amazed me that one city can be so big and extraordinary. It’s huge and dynamic. It never gets boring. There is always somewhere new to go, a new restaurant to discover and new interesting people to meet. It’ so colourful an unpredictable. It’s a mix of old and new, traditional and modern. I could go like that for ages. The only GOOD advice I can give you is, Shanghai is really worth visiting. It’s amazing, interesting and crazy. If you ever get a chance to go there, go for it. You won’t regret it.
During my last week in China I decided that I needed something that will remind me of this great year, so I decided to make this video. I would wonder around the city, film my favourite places, people around me, street food that I was ordering, colourful Chinese signs and huge skyscrapers. And here it is, my Shanghai video diary. I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
