I was born in Wrocław and lived here for the first 12 years of my life. Although I’m usually in Poland a few times a year, there is often not enough time to just walk around the city and take pictures. This time I spent a few more days in my home town and the weather was amazing, super hot and sunny, so I had time and good conditions to do this photo diary.

If you’re looking for a place for a nice weekend trip in Europe or if you’re doing a road trip I definitely recommend you to stop by Wrocław. It’s only about 300 km from Berlin and as it is the 4rd biggest city in Poland (still is about the same size as Copenhagen). Wrocław is an interesting and pretty city and various historical events left it with quiet an interesting architecture. You can hang out and eat some good food around Rynek (Market square, Wrocław’s old city), see the city form above from St. Elizabeth Church (I did it for the first time this year, so if you like heights than it’s a really cool attraction) and see one of many churches and the beautiful Cathedral (and trust me, it almost feels like there is a church on every corner of this city). There are also some really nice and old parks, as Wrocław in general is a very green city.

The Cathedral of St. John is located on and island called  Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island). It’s an island on the Oder river and it’s the oldest part of the city. As you can see on the picture above, the Tumski Bridge which leads to the island, is the place where people hang padlocks with the names of their love ones.

Plac Solny, right next to Rynek, there is always a flower market in the middle of it. DSC_0375 DSC_0380 DSC_0438

Renoma, in my opinion the best shopping mall in the city.
