At home we usually talk about the weather but here in Shanghai air pollution is the thing. I live about 6 km from the bund so technically you should be able to see all these huge skyscrapers and especially the world’s second highest building (which is still under construction) but most of the time you can’t. As you can see on the picture underneath “China air quality” is a very useful app because Shanghai’s air pollution is enormous, so a gym membership is definitely a good idea.

If I would show you my way to the gym at home you would die of boredom, but here in China I find everything inspiring. It’s just so different from home. Most of the way is quiet old school Chinese street and the end is very modern and western. Although it’s only a 15 minute walk there is always so much going on, no matter what time of day it is. There are people everywhere, constantly (often doing some quiet mysterious things) tons of small restaurants with all kinds of Asian food and countless colours and signs. So one day I decided to take my camera and try to capture everything that happens on this short walk to the gym.
